About the Zoo:
Nestled amidst the scenic beauty of Prescott, Arizona, lies the Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary, a haven for animals in need. This non-profit sanctuary, established in 1985, is a haven for over 150 rescued animals from diverse backgrounds, representing every continent except Antarctica.
The sanctuary is much more than just a place to see animals. It is a place dedicated to their well-being, providing them with spacious and well-maintained habitats that cater to their specific needs.
The staff, entirely comprised of dedicated volunteers, share a deep passion for animal welfare and provide exceptional care to each resident.

a month agoWe visited for a monthly event, this time with the tortoises. They provided a nice breakfast and a full hour long discussion on all their turtles and tortoises, they brought each one out and had several tables and area on the side to go visit and learn, and the speaker was just wonderful, full of information and tips and jokes. They take on more unusual animals that owners cannot care for any longer or need homes for occasionally, like the Galapogos girls. Well kept areas with plenty of volunteers on hand and a couple of excellent children's areas, right in front and towards the back.

a month agoI wished with my whole heart to be able to rate this five stars, but I cannot. To begin, the park is pretty clean, props to the janitors. However, enclosures are insanely small. I understand it's difficult to gain funding for smaller parks, and that is why I refuse to give this zoo lower then a 4. Advertising through videos is free on social media, make a quick video and hope for the best. You can gain small funding there and put it towards enlarging the enclosures. Otherwise, the animals will be stuck pacing back and forth in an endless cycle of boredom. As a animal enthusiast, it sucks to see lack luster enclosures, ones that lack proper environment per animal, and small cages for birds that can barely move.

2 months agoCute, small little zoo. It’s volunteer based and the animals are rescued from different situations. Little gift shop and proceeds go back to the zoo. They have wildlife encounters as well. Online they have a wish list of items you can donate to the zoo for the animals. Only $15, but nice to see wildlife you wouldn’t normally see. Only took a few pics. But I’d go back when it’s a little cooler as the animals were trying to find shade when I went.

a week agoGood thing to visit in the area. You can burn an hour or so. Smaller than your typical zoo but my son loved it.

4 weeks agoHad a great afternoon at Heritage Park. The education during feeding time with the black leopard was awesome! Will definitely return for another visit.
