My whole family enjoyed this little zoo so much, my boys are 11 & 9 and my daughter is almost 2. The kids got to feed the birds in the aviary and the animals in the petting zoo. We walked around for an hr and half then sat down and had a picnic. They had a nice little sitting area by a pirate ship play ground that my daughter absolutely loved. And the staff were all very friendly and told us a lot about the animals. We will definitely be back.
Me and my family went to georgia for a weekend all the way from Louisiana. We ended up here last minute and I'm glad we did! Memaw greeted us and was so sweet. She even walked with us most of the time we were there and we all learned alot from her. We will definitely come back again just to see how all the animals are doing❤️
This is a beautiful little zoo, hidden away outside of Hogansville proper.
The little green bird is a bit of a cheeky bugger and robbed us of our feeding sticks. When he made off with it out of reach, he held it with his foot and I swear he was laughing at us. Interesting sense of humour, that one. Picture of the thief is included in this review, so you can keep a wary eye on him!
While we were there, we got to see several of the animals fed, and the woman feeding them took the time to explain what they ate and how often, as well as their names and personalities. She was very patient with my children's 5,000 questions and even let us know who she was feeding next so they could watch. Just a lovely woman.
The staff at the front desk was not sure how to process our coupons, but was honest that she was unsure, asked if we would be patient with her (which we were happy to), and took the extra time to ensure that the children had no severe allergies before handing them the feed.
10/10 ✨✨✨
This petting zoo was amazing.
$19.99 for entry for adults with no experiences / or add ons. +5.00 for a large bag of feed!
This zoo is very well maintained & the animals look so healthy & happy 🥰✨
I love animals so when I suggested going everyone thought I was crazy LOL , but ended up having a great time!
We arrived at 1pm on a Sunday perfect time. There was no one else there & we got to take out time & enjoy every animal & feed the animals as many times as we liked.
Staff were very friendly & helpful.
We even got to meet the new baby kangaroo- so I’ll be back next year to see how big he’s gotten lol.
I’ll definitely be back ✨
This little gem was a fun find. We LOVED the Capybara Encounter. It was so cool to feed them and have an up close chance to learn about the giant rodents. Justin was an awesome host and answered all our questions. He even took the time to get several animals to come out of hiding so we could see them better. He was so knowledgeable and thoughtful. Give that guy a raise!
The bird area was so fun too. We even bought a second round of feeder sticks so we could hangout with the birds longer.
We were pretty disappointed to learn that our prebooked tickets did not come with a disclosure that many animals were not going to be at the zoo, but at the Hummingbird Festival on 10.21.23 instead. We probably would have rescheduled had we known.
Another unfortunate find was a dirty bathroom with no toilet paper, empty soap dispenser, and only a couple papertowels. I reported it to the cashier with not much for a concerned response.
Overall, they have so many wonderful animals to see and I'm glad we went. I doubt we will be back, though.
Iron P Homestead, please do better with your communication and cleanliness.
