Plumpton Park Zoo is a great place to learn about and see animals from all over the world. It is a fun and educational experience for people of all ages. With its variety of animals, activities, and amenities, Plumpton Park Zoo is a great place to spend a day with the family.

- Mammals: American black bear, African lion, white tiger, snow leopard, red panda, ring-tailed lemur, meerkat, African serval, African painted dog, coyote, gray wolf, fox, wallaby, kangaroo, alpaca, llama, miniature donkey, pot-bellied pig, capybara, guinea pig, rabbit
- Birds: African gray parrot, scarlet macaw, blue-and-gold macaw, green-winged macaw, hyacinth macaw, toucan, owl, eagle, hawk, falcon, vulture, turkey, peacock, pheasant, guinea fowl
- Reptiles & Amphibians: Alligator, American crocodile, Burmese python, reticulated python, ball python, corn snake, milk snake, kingsnake, rattlesnake, copperhead, water moccasin, tortoise, turtle, frog, toad
Things to Do:
- Animal encounters: Get up close and personal with some of the zoo’s animals, such as kangaroos, lemurs, and meerkats.
- Keeper talks: Learn more about the zoo’s animals from their keepers during educational talks.
- Animal feeding: Help feed some of the zoo’s animals, such as giraffes, penguins, and lorikeets.
- Playground: Let the kids burn off some energy at the zoo’s playground.
- Picnic area: Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic at one of the zoo’s picnic tables.
Things to Remember:
- Arrive early to avoid the crowds, especially on weekends and holidays.
- Wear comfortable shoes, as you will be doing a lot of walking.
- Bring sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun.
- Bring water and snacks, as there are limited food options available at the zoo.
- Be respectful of the animals and their enclosures. Do not tap on the glass or make loud noises.
- Take your time and enjoy the experience.
How to Get There:
- Car: Plumpton Park Zoo is located just off of I-95, making it easily accessible by car. There is ample free parking available at the zoo.
- Public transportation: There is no public transportation directly to Plumpton Park Zoo. However, Cecil Transit offers a shuttle service from the Rising Sun Park and Ride to the zoo on weekends and holidays.

3 weeks agoAs always another amazing visit to PPZ. It's the perfect way to kill a few hours and do something fun and simple with the kiddos. Our favorite friends to visit are Spike, Shadow, Hope,Frankie and Ringo. It's not as large as the Philly zoo but definitely bigger than the Brandywine, it's a perfect happy medium. They do have lots of animals that you can feed but the coolest is obviously the giraffe. We've never had issues getting parking and we have never had a bad experience. Staff is always amazing, but please be mindful and keep a close eye on your kids because they do drive different kinds of equipment through the park. I love the work that they do here and as a community they always appreciate our support. One request though. I love the story at the habitat for Spike and Shadow and how they came to be, if there are more stories of how some of your rescues came to be with you maybe post those at their habitats as well. Thank you all for the amazing work you do!!!!!!

a month agoA small town zoo with a lot of animals. They are doing their absolute best to care for these rescued animals. We love feeding the goats, sheep and giraffe. The lions are beautiful.

3 months agoThis is a great place to take young kids where they can walk around and interact with some of the animals. Feeding the giraffe is always fun, plus the Tigers, bears and more! The fish pond is also cool and there are peacocks that roam around. Also, the fact that most of the animals are rescues is nice. And of coarse, my wifes favorite is the sloths.

2 months agoThis place is wonderful. The staff is fantastic with all the animals. The giraffe was so cool. You can feed some of the animals but make sure you check in advance as different animals have different diets to follow. Always be safe and ask first. The best animal is enjoyed seeing and watching was The Slough such a laid back, take my time kinda fella. It’s an awesome and educating experience for everyone. Kids will be amazed. All the animals they read about in books come to life right in front of their eyes. Now that’s priceless. Definitely going again so everyone check it out and if you can and are able please donate. They don’t ask for donations so it up to us as a community to always back our hardworking neighbors for a. great cause…Animals. The price is inexpensive.

3 weeks agoGreat little zoo. Variety of animals . We saw many staff members tending to the animals. We were there mid-morning, and the crowds were light. When we departed at noon , the field trip busses were arriving. We had a good time.
